Loans for military in Ft. Lewis area?

Ok. Here is my situation.

My husband sucks with money. I used to handle the finances but we fought every month because I paid everything on time every month and had no extra money to go do something every single night. My husband seriously has ADD. He is the kind of person who wants everything now.

So…after months of that, I told him that if he wanted the responsibility, he could handle the finances. He told his sister (who is also in the army) that he would pay for everything when she came to visit us for one week without asking me if we could afford it. They both are being deployed to Iraq. So his sister being up here wasn't an issue. It was paying for everything. Well she got up here and we DID end up paying for everything, but with the agreement that she would pay us back when she got paid. So then, it comes time for her to pay us and she basically says no. So we are screwed. I am pregnant and can't work. He is our only source of income. He hasn't been paying the car loan so the only car we had got repossessed. So he is living in the barracks during the week. All of the other bills are also behind. His real mother now wants us to pay for her to come visit and I said no. No way in hell. And now, as we speak he is on the phone with his step mom promising her some sort of money. He is being deployed and his huge plans for the money he will earn is to spend it on cars for the both of us. I do not know his logic. I will be working when he is deployed. So my thought is that we should save up for a house or place it towards one of our educations.

If we had the money to pay for his family to come up and pay their bills and whatever. I would do it. No questions questioned. If we could afford to waste money on new cars. I would do it. No questions questioned. But, we do not have that kind of money and we (as in baby, husband, and I) are a family, and WE need to survive. I am so frustrated. I cannot get a loan because I have no job and no credit whatsoever. We were fine when I was making ,000 a year when I was working. I was working construction and was unable to get any kind of maternity leave.

This is our fault. So I don't see the point in going to get an AER loan as they will view us paying for his sister as a "non emergency" kind of thing.

Now to my questions…

How do I approach finances with my husband when he views it as "his" pay check? He really throws a fit when I tell him we can't afford things.

Are there any reputable military loan places up in Ft. Lewis, WA?

Are there any finance workshops that are available to military members? How do I convince my husband to go?

I already know that the whole situation with our money is ridiculous. I do not need to be lectured. So please keep negative opinions to yourself. Thank you.

You can go to ACS (Army Community Services) they have a budget class where they sit down with you one on one and will get you on a budget that is tailored for you. Just question him to go if you all get further in debt it could jeopardize is military career and if he has a clearance he could lose it.

At all cost try to avoid getting loans. You can also check out tips on this site..http://www.militaryonesource.com/skins/MOS/home.aspx I would talk to his sister one on one and clarify the situation maybe she doesn't get the whole picture.

You need to be firm with him. A family is expensive to have. Let him know your concerned about your child's future as well as your own. When he goes on deployment you should open up a CD or invest the money.
