Mortgage Underwriter?

Written By: admin on November 20, 2009 One Comment

I have worked as a loan officer for a 16 months, then as a branch manager for a year at a Minnesota Bank. I like the part of my job underwriting (figuring out how to make things work) just despise the sales aspect. Getting burnt out. Want to try and go into underwriting at another bank. Any sugestions on how to go about that?

Thanks for the help.

You described the underwriter’s job backward. She is trying to stop things from "working". She is judged by the number of terrible loans. That is why loan officers get so frustrated by underwriters…. and their continual requests for more documentation.
You have to visit with the owner or manager of nearby mortgage companies and tell them about your desire. One of them will hire you. Offer to sub-in if their underwriter gets sick or goes on vacation.
