If I am buying a house, is it normal for the sellers agent to contact my mortgage lender to question how much I am prequalified for after we have already given her the lender verification letter?

It is common for the sellers’ agent to contact your mortgage broker or lender. In fact, in this market, these agents are better serving their sellers by making sure that their potential buyer(s) are well qualified and aren’t going to waste time with an unqualified buyer. This also limits the risk of taking the property off the market during escrow only to have it fall through. Believe me, if you were selling a property you would want your agent to really make sure that the buyers are qualified.
Excellent luck on your buy!
