Besides tuition and books, what else can i spend my financial aid on? I heard i can spend it on transportation and rent/room and board. I would be taking the bus and i live on my own.
Another question i have is, with the remaining financial aid how do i prove that i am paying it towards whats legally allowed instead of lets say a stereo? And what if i spend the remaining financial aid on everything that is allowed and still have left over money, do i have to send it back or what do i do with it?

It’s intended to help with other school related expenses such as living expenses and transportation expenses. So it’s sort of a reimbursement of money you’ve already spent or will spend on these expenses. You don’t have to send it back.
You can buy a stereo with it if you want to. Though that’s not really the wisest thing to do with it. You should place it in savings for unexpected expenses, or, if it’s loans, go ahead and pay it back towards your loan balance.
