Why are so many republicans so afraid of the economic stimulus package proposed by president Barack Obama?
probably all kinds of different reasons will be given, but doesn’t it at least deserve a chance to work? We had to sit on the sideline while George W Bush invaded Iraq for no excellent reason, but didn’t he at least get the chance to see if it would work or not? Something has to be done to fix our economy! What would all of these frightened republicans do if they were in Obama’s shoes to fix the situation?

Because I don’t believe it will work and that it will only serve to place our nation further into debt. I am not a repub but. I am a conservative Independent.
I believe the only thing that will save this country and us as a people is to get back to living within our means. Credit is NOT something we need. It is something we WANT. Not only for government, but for us as individuals as well. Credit is the monster that has led us down this path in the first place. Our standard of living before the availability of unlimited credit cards was not a terrible thing. In fact, it was pretty decent. I don’t recall that it was a time of fantastic suffering or poverty.
